PARENTAL FMLA LEAVE
GUIDELINES FOR SUPERVISOR:
1. Promptly notify UMD Department of Human Resources of the need for
FMLA leave if the employee has not done so already (or if you are unsure
whether the employee has done so). UMD Human Resources will send out the
required paperwork, copying you and the Departmental Liaison for your
area.
2. The Civil Service Personnel Action Document (PDF/WORD)document
must be completed by the supervisor noting, when appropriate, parental
leave, that the leave is an FMLA covered leave and the date of the provisional
FMLA letter. The PAD document should be sent to UMD Department of Human
Resources, 255 DAdB.
3. Complete the Family
and Medical Leave Record Up to twelve (12) weeks paid/unpaid
time is covered under the FMLA every fiscal year.
