Outstanding Service Award
As assistant business develoment specialist with the Center for Economic Development, Dick identifies, assesses, and develops busienss opportunities related to the field of study of the hiring unit. This include seeking out prospective businesses, screeing new ventures and expansion proposals, evaluation, preparing comprehensive analyses, and recommending projects that will result in commercial success.
One of Dick's accomplishments is the implementation of entrepreneurial development programs in Cloquet, Grand Rapids, Meadowlands, Hibbing and Duluth.
Technology is one of the ways that the department is able to achieve their mission. Dick volunteered to be the “test pilot” for a new software that will allow the center to broadcast classes via the web. He has successfully completed a broadcast and plans are already in the works to incorporate the new training method on a nationwide basis.
One client said, “This is just a quick note to thank you for allowing Dick to work on this project. No words are adequate in describing how important he was in putting this project together.”
