Outstanding Service Award
Faculty Web Services
The group that developed the faculty web services is comprised of Scott Hollatz, Gordee Bennett, Andy Manteuffel, Robert Sand, and Bruce Reeves. Also, honorable mention goes to Dan Burrows and Barb Johnson.
The Faculty Web Services were developed in response to faculty needs surrounding the offering of online courses and course materials via the internet. The group took the initiative to find solutions to problems, often coming up with innovative and successful programs that saved UMD a lot of money. Members of this group worked on the project in roles that were not necessarily part of the “job,” stretching their knowledge and skills in new ways to meet the needs of our growing online course support while taking great care about security and privacy issues.
The faulty web services benefit a large portion of our faculty since they can be used to support any course either online or in a traditional classroom. Because of this group, faculty now has far greater freedom to tailor the tools they need for their courses.
It is an honor to present this group with the Project Award.
