Outstanding Service Award 2002
Continuous Service
Pam Griffin
Pam is a “go to” person in the access center, in her position as
Coordinator. Students use her as a resource for housing, advising, relationship
issues, study skills, and time management along with the academic accommodations
the Access Center provides.
Faculty and staff use her as a resource. Facilities Management staff contact
her regarding Americans with Disabilities Act rules and regulations, inquiring
about what works best for students. She, in turn, works with students, listening
to their concerns about the accessibility of the campus, and encouraging them
to make contact with the appropriate department so they can hear the student’s
side of the story.
Pam developed the first web site for the Access Center. This past year, she
worked with Rec Sports and the Courage Center to develop a tennis program for
students with disabilities on campus, and to promote two weekends of disabled
sports events.
This award is presented to Pam in recognition of all that she does to make
the lives of all UMD students better.
