Continuous Service
Douglas Vandenberg
Doug is the Television Supervising Technician for Information Technology System
and Services. Besides ordering, inventorying, and repairing all kinds of audio-visual
equipment, he has been intimately involved in upgrading classrooms with technology
equipment to enhance the teaching/learning experience at UMD. He has added closed-captioning
decoders in classrooms, designed teaching podiums that contain all of the connections
necessary to teach from a laptop computer or show a video. When equipment "doesn’t
quite fit", Doug manufactures parts or finds adapters that would meet our
needs. Doug is committed to keeping on top of what equipment is available, when
new or improved products are out, and to providing the best service possible
for faculty.
It is my honor and privilege to present Doug with this Outstanding Service
award.
