Corey Fischer
Health Services
Corey is an exceptional role model. As UMD's Chemical Health Educator, she
has many responsibilities. Corey combines knowledge and dedication to teach
others about alcohol abuse and other health issues.
Corey's effect on others is tremendous. Over half of her class of underage
alcohol offenders has been inspired to make a fresh start. One of her students
said "I haven't seen a speaker like Corey in my life. She had such a different
approach, and I could tell that it really got the class's attention."
Corey has used creative ways to teach students. She started a drama group that
targets substance use and other health issues, designed an informative website,
and launched a very successful social norming campaign. Corey has won several
national awards for her efforts.
For all the lives she's touched, I proudly present Corey with this Continuous
Service award.
