Last year, the University of Minnesota Board of Regents outlined a dramatic
change in the delegation of authority for University Administrators. A project
was put in place which identified each of the various decisions that a University
Administrator could make and outlined the process by which an Administrator
would receive authority to make the decision, to recommend the decision or in
many cases, would not have the authority to make decisions with regard to the
University responsibility.
It was essential that the project be done with precision and absolute clarity.
Every time an Administrator is hired or leaves the University, a new delegation
tree has to be created in that work unit. Betty and Linda were identified as
the keepers of those records for UMD. They developed the model, entered the
data, maintained and updated records. They should be proud of their work and
we clearly are proud of them.
It gives me great pleasure to present Betty and Linda with this Project award.
