Outstanding Service Award
Connie is a good citizen on campus and in the community. She does things which
help improve the image of University of Minnesota Duluth and Labovitz School of
Business & Economics. For example, she served on a number of Paint-a-Thon
Teams for SBE and UMD giving up her weekends to help those less fortunate.
Faculty are grateful for her understanding, consideration, and assistance
in all aspects of her work. She is always willing to lend an understanding and
helpful ear to our problems, and she always makes sure she finds out the appropriate
solution to our day-to day problems. Her helpfulness and wise counsel, delivered
with a friendly smile, really impresses everyone who comes in contact with her.
Perhaps the best example of her initiative is our recent major remodeling. Connie
personally initiated, requested, directed, and supervised the complete remodeling
of SBE 110 for our department. Through planning and coordination, she was able
to have the entire remodeling/replacement project completed during Spring Break,
eliminating any inconvenience to faculty and students. Her department has seen
tremendous growth. The number of majors has skyrocketed and the number of faculty
has grown. With all the pressures of these new numbers, Connie has been a solid
rock in the department.
Connie’s expertise and eagerness to help others make it a pleasure to
present her with this award.
