2005-2006 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Stephanie has provided excellent nursing care to UMD students for 13 years. She has consistently demonstrated excellent nursing care and places the needs of our students and their access to care as a priority. Her clear understanding of the mission & vision of UMD helps to ensure that Health Services goals mesh with the bigger picture. Having worked in the Duluth community in women’s health care, Stephanie is often asked to serve as a participant in panel discussions centered on issues of sexuality and health. She is a life-long learner and seeks out opportunities to stay current with all health issues and shares this information with her colleagues. Stephanie is often asked to speak in classes, particularly ICL classes; she is instrumental in providing valuable information to our students regarding health and is especially valued because she adds a touch of humor to her presentations. This past June, Stephanie used her medical knowledge and experience to participate on a medical mission to Kenya. Along with a wealth of experiences she came back with a global perspective on health care needs.
Stephanie is responsible for tracking Health Services medications used by our students and assures that we have current stock to meet their needs. Stephanie has served two years on the Student Service Fee Committee and for the past 3 years, she has arranged for the monthly in-services for all Health Services staff. Stephanie is a leader when it comes to attaining high standards, she demonstrates excellent nursing skill and judgment every day and it is for these reasons and more that we present this award to Stephanie.
