2005-2006 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
“Model UMD employee!” This is how Kora’s colleagues describe her. One major accomplishment is her role in the Labovitz School of Business and Economics Outreach Committee. This committee is responsible for the “Professor for a Day” Program. We’re told that because of Kora’s dedication and hard work, this event is such a success that it has now become a campus level event with the important participation and support from Chancellor Martin. Kora is credited for arranging for speakers for the event, panel discussions on various topics of interests, encouraging student participation, and basically, seeing the event through from beginning to end.
Kora has also been very instrumental in getting students in the Accounting Department involved in a variety of activities, she encourages the students to spend time in their department, get to know their advisors and to become part of the “Accounting family.” Kora’s creative marketing abilities have lead to the annual fall bus trip to the Accounting and Auditing Student Conference.
Kora’s dedication and initiatives go far beyond UMD, she is very active in the broader community, her volunteer work includes: Northwood United Methodist Church (Youth Director, Administrative Council Representative, Chair of Nominations Committee), ARCD (member of the Board of Directors), American Cancer Society (participant in Relay for Life & Co-Chair for Survivors Celebration), CHUM, Damiano Center, various mission trips and many, many more. We are pleased to present Kora with this award.
