2005-2006 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Christine Ebert
Chris began her career at UMD in 1997 as an Office Specialist and worked her
way up to an Executive Office and Administrative position. Some of Chris’s
key responsibilities include: handling gift deposits and gift acknowledgments
for all of UMD, last year she processed checks and sent acknowledgment letters
for over $4 million in gifts. Her hard work has earned her the highest praise
from the U of M Foundation, they have asked that UMD Development Office work
in cooperation with them to spearhead a new pilot project that will change how
we manage the gift deposit process. This is a first! Her responsibilities include:
assist in planning major development trips for directors and the Chancellor;
proof reading all major publications and ensuring compliance with postal regulations
and ordering supplies and services for unit.
Chris is a talented individual, she has “the ability to change direction
in mid-stream,” she is great at handling a crisis and has excellent customer
service skills. Chris is not afraid of hard work. Recently, she requested involvement
in more “special projects” and she is frequently called upon to
assist with UMD’s special events, most of which are outside of regular
business hours. Chris is a self-starter and constantly challenges herself. She
took it upon herself to learn and become an expert in postal regulations regarding
bulk mail; her efforts recently saved the unit over $2,000 in postage. Chris
is critical to the success of UMD’s commencement committee. Because of
her keen attention to detail and organizational skills, she has earned the respect
of Lucy Kragness, who is responsible for planning UMD’s two annual commencement
ceremonies. Chris loves her job and shows it. We are happy to present Chris
with this award.
