2005-2006 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Bonnie Peterson
Bonnie Peterson has been a dedicated UMD employee since 1997 and is currently
serving in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health as a Program
Associate. She works hard to be available and open to the 3rd and 4th year medical
students as they register for their clinical rotations. Bonnie also acts as
a “student affairs office” (even though we don’t have one
on this campus) by providing a safe place for students in their first rotations
in Duluth; she has opened her home to these students when student apartments
were full.
She provides the Dean of the Medical School with last minute data
information regarding Year 3 & 4 Programs and does it in a timely and efficient
manner. Bonnie took the initiative to work closely with one of our physicians
to co-author a paper for publication. She also took the initiative to collect
data and put together a document proposing a change in the emergency medicine
rotation from an elective to a required rotation.
She created “patient
role-playing scenarios” and acted as “Mom” for one of the
department’s grant initiatives (family connection videos). Bonnie thinks
outside the box to solve student problems, she wholeheartedly supports departmental
activities and genuinely cares for the department. She is a team player in every
sense and has established excellent working relationships with co-workers and
faculty in many Twin Cities Medical School departments as well as UMD Medical
School administrators.
She is 200% dedicated to the job and for these reasons,
we are proud to present Bonnie with an Outstanding Service award.
