Because of his excellent work and dedication, he was reclassed to Laboratory Machinist Specialist in June 1999. In 2000, Steve took over as the Safety Director. Because of his wealth of knowledge and wide variety of talents, his responsibilities within NRRI have continued to grow.
Steve works beyond expectations each and everyday. His work ethics are what every employer wishes for, and even when having a difficult day, he always takes the time to say hello and ask how you are doing. His duties are diverse involving many people, many departments and various outside agencies. On any given day, you might find Steve creating an intricate prototype part; designing and making machine parts; preparing a $50,000 phone purchase proposal; solving ergonomic problems; finding solutions for leaky faucets & acting as the primary contact for all building concerns. Steve approaches each situation, each question and concern in a friendly yet professional manner. NRRI relies on Steve each day for his problem solving abilities.
Steve is one of the hardest working and most dedicated employees the University has ever had. He is known for being the first person in the building each morning and works consistently and efficiently throughout the day. He will change his schedule at a moment’s notice if needed. He is driven to do his best for the University. If there is a task to be completed, he willing offers his time and gives a 110%. We are privileged to work with someone with such a positive, productive attitude.
For these reasons and more, we present Steve with this Outstanding Service award.
