2005-2006 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Judy is the Executive Office and Administrative Specialist for the University’s Sea Grant Program located at UMD. Over the past 31 years, Judy’s work has been exceptional, dedicated and tireless. Within the mission of the program, she has demonstrated the ability to successfully juggle many different responsibilities. Her ability to respond quickly and efficiently to crises and urgent projects with competence is one of her strongest points. Judy constantly goes the extra mile to see that things are completed on time and in a manner that represents the program well.
Judy’s initiative to make Minnesota Sea Grant the best it can be is evident everyday in her work. She contributes far more than just traditional duties, she does an excellent job of fielding inquiries from clientele, responding with appropriate answers or directions and evaluating when a caller needs to talk with a specialist. As the person with the most institutional knowledge on staff, Judy plays an important role in training new staff and helping them to quickly become oriented to Sea Grant and to the University. Judy has been a part of Sea Grant through the passage of several directors, educators, communicators, and specialists. She has been the glue that’s provided continuity and stability for the Sea Grant program. She has worked very hard this past year on many conferences, workshops, anniversary events and meetings. In July 2005 Sea Grant celebrated its 30th anniversary with a major reception on the UMD campus. Judy was very instrumental in making this event very successful.
For these reasons and more, we are pleased to present Judy with an Outstanding Service award.
