Tracey Bolen
Continuous Service Award
Since 1999, Tracey has served as chair of CARE (Committee for Awards,
Recognition, & Excellence) for LSBE, verifying information for 90-100
scholarship applications per year, working with the LSBE Development Director
to finalize scholarship awards and then working with LSBE Dean's office
to notify scholarship recipients.
With an eye to the students’ life-skills education, he ensures
that all scholarship recipients write a professional and thoughtful thank-you
letter to the donors. He also assists in the planning and coordinating
of the school's fall scholarship and spring recognition receptions. But
under Tracey's leadership CARE has become more than just the “scholarship”
committee. He takes the charge for the committee to recognize all constituents
of LSBE seriously, ensuring that not only students, staff, and faculty,
but also alumni and “friends” of LSBE are acknowledged for
their excellence.
Tracey also serves as the advisor to the LSBE Student Organization Coordinating
Council and is the LSBE representative in a mentoring program designed
to encourage graduating students to stay and work in Duluth.
On top of all that, he was responsible for the new online LSBE scholarship
application, which has made applying for the school's scholarships more
convenient and consistent with the technology students are accustomed
to.
Tracey strives for excellence, is passionate about the well being of the
LSBE students and has consistently demonstrated his dedication to UMD.
