Outstanding Service Awards (2006-2007

Melissa Jokela
Continuous Service Award

Melissa Jokela was originally hired to provide central computer server administration duties. While she still fulfills those duties, they certainly don’t solely define her service to the campus.

When the department sadly lost an employee, Melissa volunteered to provide the leadership for the ITSS system programming support group, which provides service to many campus units. Melissa organized this programming workload, including addressing priorities and overseeing the staffing necessary to provide and expand this support area. Along with the server administration, she continues to provide leadership for this unit.

When the Visualization and Digital Imaging Lab (VDIL), our high-end, state of the art computing lab, was in need of a central computer system server administrator, Melissa again volunteered, adding responsibility for managing the VDIL central computer servers to her workload. This past summer, she coordinated and led the team that developed and implemented the Chancellor’s Kiosk Project in Solon Campus Center.
