Outstanding Service Awards (2006-2007
Jodi Lieske
Continuous Service Award
Working in the Degree Clearance area of the Office of Financial
Aid and Registrar since October 2001, Jodi has made numerous improvements
to the degree clearance process. She was asked to serve as Duluth representative
on the all-campus task force to create an Electronic Application for Degree.
After persevering in that work, advocating for the Duluth campus, spending
hours testing the system and providing presentations for a number of campus
groups, the value of her service was seen. In Fall 2005, students were
finally able to file their application for degree online.
Her service to students certainly doesn’t stop there. Jodi has
also been involved in valuable improvements to the Commencement Program.
She was instrumental in automating the production of the Undergraduate
Commencement Program, researching an innovative way to download the information
from PeopleSoft into a database that could be used to produce the Program.
This work saved campus resources, both in time and money. And last summer
Jodi worked with technical support staff to create a Web site, enabling
students to check their information for the Commencement Program online,
rather than requiring they go to the Student Affairs Office to check the
information on printed lists.
