Continuous Service Award
Barbara Beattie
With more than 20 years at UMD, Barb brings a substantial amount of campus
experience to her role as Transfer Specialist in the Admissions office.
That time in service and breadth of knowledge provide the campus with
a "go to" person for transfer student issues. It also provides
the skill and expertise to evaluate transfer admissions applications and
enables UMD to reach its transfer enrollment targets each term. But, to
transfer students looking at UMD, what she provides is so much greater
than evaluating applications and meeting projected numbers.
Barb provides a personalized touch for students who have not yet found
their college "home." She is known for being a "strong
advocate" for students in need, no matter the issue. Intuitive, positive
in approach, and knowledgeable, she demonstrates a strong commitment to
the happiness of our students, leading to their improved satisfaction
with their college experience, and our higher completion and retention
rates.
Barb consistently goes above and beyond, willingly offering her expertise
and her energies to serve the students, her department and the campus.
With her reputation for doing what it takes to make things right for students,
she is a great asset to UMD and I am pleased to present her with this
award.
