2007-2008 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Gordee Bennett
During her nearly 28 years at UMD with Information Technology Systems
and Services or ITSS for short, many of us have worked with Gordee Bennett
in a variety of areas, and her technical skills and customer service ethic
are very well known. However, there are areas where most of us haven't
worked with her, where Gordee's skills and work ethic also really shine.
ITSS staffers tell us that Gordee is often able to quickly spot patterns
in HELP desk requests, indicating a problem. She then takes the initiative
to get her department working to resolve the issue before it shows up
more widely. As a result, we all benefit without ever knowing it
because the problem is fixed before the rest of us even recognize
we had a problem.
Likewise, Gordee is quietly in the background when it comes to finding
ways to improve our account management processes. She proposes solutions
and gets them implemented, again with minimal or no disruption to the
campus.
Gordee's suberb technical skills, coupled with her continuous improvement
approach, helps enable campus technology to run smoothly, often without
any work or awareness on our part, and demonstrates her dedication to
UMD. Gordee, it is an honor to present you with this award.
