Team Project: Health Services Electronic Medical Management System Implementation
Tim Biles, Sally Bradt, Dan Ellis, Lori Kunkel,
Frank Simmons, Debbie Wing
This team comprised of Tim, Sally, Dan, Frank and Debbie who all work
in Information Technology Systems and Lori who works with Health Services.
This team project required those with medical knowledge and technical
computer expertise to work cooperatively in implementing a new electronic
medical management system for Health Services. This system not only improves
efficiency and effectiveness of the recordkeeping within Health Services
but also supports the UMD QuickCare Clinic.
When you are dealing with confidential medical data, protected under
federal laws, it requires attention to detail with an exceptional focus
on security. This added an additional level of complexity to an already
very difficult project. From the complete rewiring of the Health Services
Building, installation of a server and replacement of equipment, to the
ongoing training and continuous monitoring necessary to keep the system
backed-up and secure, this has been a complex and significant project.
All of the employees being recognized worked hard to make this a success,
and they weren't alone. We also want to acknowledge Chuck Bosell, Bill
Marko, Josh Richard and Vicki Schneider who contributed significantly
but were not eligible for an award this year because of the Outstanding
Service Awards Rules.
For all your exceptional work on medical management system, I am pleased
to present you with this Project Award.
