2007-2008 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award

 

Linda Rolfe

Attention to detail is critical in all major areas of Linda Rolfe's work. But, her job at The Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Administration also sometimes involves, as her supervisor wrote, considering lofty aspirations and tempering them with realistic capabilities in order to develop workable procedures.

Nowhere has this need been clearer than in the planning for the fall 2008 implementation of the UMD Course Guide. Linda has played a pivotal role in the project. With no guidelines or explicit instructions on how to accomplish this goal, she analyzed the needs, considered the wants, looked at the possibilities and developed procedures.

That same careful consideration and attention to detail shows up in her preparation and coordination of the UMD General Catalog, in its print and electronic versions. Format and organization of the catalog have changed in every issue over the past eight years, and the General Catalog requires constant monitoring to keep it current. For the 2007-09, Linda recognized the need and was instrumental in implementing changes to update and reorganize the section on UMD policies.

With recognition of that creativity and careful attention to detail, I am pleased to present Linda with this Outstanding Service Award.
