2008-2009 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Steve Dougherty
Steve Dougherty has been helping the UMD campus look and function better since he joined us in 1974. His supervisor in Facilities Management has noted that his 35 years of commitment to the campus is widely respected and that he exemplifies the Facilities Management Mission Statement by providing high quality service, while maintaining positive and productive relationships.
Steve is the Facilities “go to guy” for Recreational Sports, Athletics and HPER, serving as the lead worker for nine full-time Building & Grounds workers and seven Student Workers. His ability to schedule work and complete tasks in such a manner that there is minimal disruption to the Sports and Health Center was noted. He’s also known within his department as an innovator who introduced new methods of installing ice at the rink, resulting in a higher-quality ice surface. The new Malosky Stadium was ready to go for the first football game of the season, thanks to the careful oversight of Steve and his crew.
According to his department, Steve displays pride of ownership, in taking care of UMD’s people and buildings. He is always willing to go the extra mile and displays a customer service ethic second to none. For his dedication to the UMD campus, I am very pleased to present this Outstanding Service Award to Steve.
