Mary Hennessy
Mary Hennessy, a Facilities Management employee, is being recognized today for the Safety Training Program she developed and implemented for another unit on campus: UMD Auxiliary Services.
Facilities Management has a safety program that Mary was involved in implementing. As this training was so successful for the original department, it was felt that it could be modified for the Auxiliary Services area. While developing the Auxiliary Services program was not part of Mary’s job, her skills and commitment to safety made it a natural fit.
Mary worked with Auxiliary Services to determine the training required, developed a database for recording training, researched possible online training for specific subject matter, and scheduled training. In the case of Food Service Training, it was even necessary to research, write, photograph and narrate the training. And, it will require ongoing updates and maintenance.
For her willingness to share her expertise and assist other departments in meeting their safety training needs, it is a pleasure to present Mary with this award.
