2008-2009 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Ten principal investigators, multiple proposal budgets, a dozen or more funding agencies, SPA regulations, budget revisions, travel documents, procurement cards and the usual office demands, Eulie Markham has one busy and very critical job, which she performs with “incredible dedication.”
The Center for Water and the Environment is very dependent upon grants. Consequently, it was noted that they submit more proposals per capita than any other department on campus. As the nomination noted, “We have never added up the total number of grant proposals Eulie has helped to process, but the total dollar value of those grants over her 20 years of service likely exceeds $50-60M!” The pressure to get a proposal completed perfectly is understandable, given that dependency on grant money. Yet it was noted that even when this stress is on, Eulie remains calm and unflustered, and gets the package out – whatever it takes. Her department notes that with her “professional and competent attitude with unfailing courtesy that never fails to impress and reassure, Eulie will be a very difficult employee to replace when she retires.
For her role in keeping the grants coming and the staff at CWE taken care of, I am proud to present this award to Eulie.
