Outstanding Service Award Recipient (2010-2011)
Tackling everything from administrative procedures to group morale covers a lot of territory. But when one person serves as “financial administrator, personnel officer, facilities manager, inventory clerk, safety officer, councilor, cheerleader and den mother,” like Yvonne Chan does for Large Lakes Observatory, it’s really all in a day’s work.
While success with external funding proposals has meant that LLO has seen significant changes, it also means a greatly increased administrative workload with no additional staff support. According to her department, this additional work has been carried by Yvonne at an “above and beyond” performance level. They report that through it all, she “has managed the unit with efficiency, aplomb, and equanimity.”
LLO states that dedication is a hallmark of Yvonne’s personality and that she is dedicated to the success of both her unit and the University as a whole.
We are proud to present this award to Yvonne, for her efficient care and total dedication to the Large Lakes Observatory and UMD.
