Outstanding Service Award Recipient (2010-2011)
“Meticulous and very organized” Frank Maragi keeps the Biology labs functioning smoothly. That is no small feat when you consider the chemicals, equipment and supplies used by the Biology Department. Also they occupy two buildings and outlying facilities such as the UMD Farm, the Large Lakes Observatory and numerous other field sites.
The Biology Department notes that Frank created an outstanding system for organizing supplies and equipment that enhanced time and space efficiency. He ensures that the required materials are provided in a timely manner. Frank even helps reduce departmental costs by growing and maintaining research organisms commonly used in the teaching labs.
His department notes that Frank’s skills are not limited to the technical and organizational but that he also understands students and how they learn. He helps undergraduates with their research projects and works with the Graduate Teaching Assistants, as well.
We are pleased to present this award to Frank for his many services to the students and faculty of the Biology Department.
