Outstanding Service Award Recipient (2010-2011)
Debbie Rose joined the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry in 1999, and although the department has doubled in size during that time, it has almost the same number of staff members as back then. This has required ever-broadening roles, and since that time, Debbie has taken on a very diverse and growing set of duties including budgets, communication, assisting the department head, personnel duties, supervising clerical staff and more.
Besides the significant budget responsibilities, Debbie help with paperwork for visa issues relating to international students, scientists and visitors. She serves as Effort Coordinator for the department, provides support for all the departmental searches, works with the new faculty members, helping them with their transition to the new job. Despite the complexity and breadth of all these other duties, her subordinates say she is an excellent supervisor who is very supportive of her staff. Her department reports that she handles all her responsibilities with care, patience and dedication.
For great service to her department and setting a standard of excellence for all of us, we are pleased to present this award to Debbie.
