Outstanding Service Award Recipient (2010-2011)
Deadlines and details don’t often bring out the best mood in most people, and grant proposals are always a mix of complex details and tight deadlines. So, with her always good natured personality, it would be understandable if you didn’t realize that Elizabeth Rumsey works in Sponsored Projects Administration.
Faculty and staff who have worked with Elizabeth note both her innovative thinking and problem solving skills. They mention that she is excellent at helping faculty and staff deal with granting institutions and their rules. Her department states that she has an almost “encyclopedic knowledge” of funding agencies, foundations, policies and procedures. Others wrote that she was phenomenal and exceptional with respect to her in-depth knowledge, that she is always helpful, and that deadlines do not get missed, due to her careful watch.
But with all the tremendous skills, care and competence that she clearly brings to a very challenging job, there was another very consistent and remarkable thread to the comments: despite stress and difficult deadlines, Elizabeth always remains calm, cheerful, helpful, encouraging, cordial, courteous and friendly.
Recognizing both her wonderful competence and her ability to stay positive in stressful situations, it’s our pleasure to present this award to Elizabeth.
