Outstanding Service Award Recipient
Project Award: EVCAA Search Project
Anyone who has served in the position of staff support for a major search knows that it is a time consuming process. In Bob Borden’s case, he got to go through the entire process twice before the campus succeeded in finding the right EVCAA. In the process, he earned the respect of his search chair and the gratitude of the campus for a job well done.
Since this search had two phases, there was not just the search committee and campus constituents’ schedules to contend with, but also the schedules of two different search firms. Also, because of the nature of this search, initial interviews were done off site and out-of-town requiring Bob to make extensive travel arrangements for everyone. Then, there were the on-campus interviews where transportation and accommodations for candidates had to be taken care of, as well as the details of all the on-campus activities. This involved nine different candidate visits with twelve separate meetings for each visit. The logistics were complicated and added to an already busy position in the Chancellor’s front office.
For helping to make UMD look very good and keeping all the details under control on a very complex search, I am pleased to present Bob with this project award.
