Outstanding Service Award Recipient
Joan was instrumental in ensuring the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations maintained a high level of performance during its state of transition. Joan has provided information that has proven helpful to various personnel at UMD and the University of Minnesota. Her six-month effort on the comprehensive rewrite of the UMD Emergency Operations Plan as part of the UMD system effort resulted in a new 223 page document detailing emergency operation planning for UMD.
Joan researched the history of Duluth Transit Authority payment, developed a departmental and collegiate HR records retention document, researched the structure of chamber dues, revised the Strike Plan, completed the UMD HR Grievance Standard Manual, revised the UMD HR Operational Continuity Plan, researched the updated University policy on Vacation Donation and worked on educational pieces for the Budget Committee to enable them to understand the University’s budgeting process.
Joan willingly dives into a difficult project, works out an efficient approach and delivers a quality product. For her level of professionalism, her willingness to work for the common good of UMD, I’m pleased to present Joan with this Outstanding Service Award.
