Outstanding Service Award Recipient
When Tami was hired for the new Masters of Tribal Administration and Governance program, she immediately assisted in developing marketing materials, contacting students interested in the program and assisting them with the online application process. Numerous students stated that they would not be in the program if it was not for Tami. When the department learned that Native American students enjoy a rural setting, she secured a location at Cloquet Forestry Center for their orientation as well as on days when faculty members wanted to hold classes there. Tami took the initiative to develop websites and a Facebook page for the program and worked closely with an outside advertising agency to develop a marketing strategy serving areas with large Native American population.
When the staff for the American Indian Studies Department left, without hesitation, Tami took over her duties in addition to hers and she has been performing two jobs for the last few months.
Tami, please accept this award with our thanks and appreciation.
