Outstanding Service Award Recipient
Logistical Onsite Support for Overlapping Conferences
Judy Zomerfelt of the Minnesota Sea Grant Program orchestrated the successful implementation of not one, but two multi-day conferences in a five-day span. The two conferences, the Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials Program with 70 participants and the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network Conference with 65 participants involved educators, researchers and program leaders from across the nation. Activities included networking opportunities, various keynote speakers, and field trips. What is more incredible is that the events actually overlapped for one day wherein participants from two differing conferences would attend the overlapping events. Participants raved about the quality of the conferences and skill that Judy exhibited while organizing the events. These conferences showed the nation, through the participants, how the Minnesota Sea Grant programs and UMD are bold, confident, and brutally effective.
For all these and for being a champion for the quality of work that we strive for here at UMD, we are pleased to present Judy with this Outstanding Service Award.
