EMPLOYEE APPRAISAL TOOLS


The rating supervisor has many options to choose from when selecting an appraisal tool. While it is a unit administrator’s choice which of the tools to use, there are certain guidelines for consideration:

Is there significant employee buy-in through contribution to the process?
Is the tool easy enough for employee and supervisor to complete within a reasonable amount of time?
Is the tool flexible enough to be applicable to the jobs under review? (You should be using the same tool for all members of an employee group.)
Are you comfortable with the range and standardization of ratings?
