Recommended Salary Ranges
The Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity/Student Employment has had requests from some departments to provide a salary range for student employees. Listed below is our recommendation.
Please keep in mind that these salary ranges are ‘recommended’ and the advantages of the Student Broadbanding System allows departments the flexibility to establish positions and pay rates within job families.

It remains the responsibility of the individual departments or units to establish rational and consistent criteria for different pay rates. Such criteria may include the nature of the duties and the level of responsibility assigned; the student’s previous work experience; the student’s level of progress toward his/her degree; and meritorious performance. Departments and work units may be required to justify differences in pay among their students. It is advised that departments have a written policy regarding the level of pay for student employees outlining the criteria for increasing pay.
