Guidelines in Nominating a Student Employee

"Student Employee of the Year" is a contest developed by the National Association of Student Employment Administrators (NASEA). NASEA is a non-profit association involved with supporting and promoting student employment. NASEA's goal is to promote student employment as an educational experience for students, as well as an alternative to financial aid and an aid for students to prepare for a meaningful career.

National Student Employment Week is celebrated across the nation during the first part of April. As a part of this week, UMD Human Resources Office of Student Employment and Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations encourages campus departments to take time during National Student Employment Week to let their student employees know how much their hard work is appreciated.

Here at UMD, it is time to plan the recognition of our outstanding student employees through the MASEA Student Employee of the Year program (Minnesota Association of Student Employment Administrators). As in previous years, student employees will be evaluated on the following qualities: reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness of contribution.

Our student employees provide a valuable service to UMD. This is a perfect opportunity to recognize and reward their important contribution.

UMD will honor nearly 1,500 student employees during National Student Employment Week. Student employment helps students develop interpersonal, oral communication, computer skills, and employment references. In order to recognize the contributions of our student employees, UMD has set aside April 13-19, 2008 to celebrate our student employees and their efforts throughout the year.
