Guidelines in Nominating for the UMD
"Student Employee of the Year" Competition

Who can nominate:

Co-worker, supervisor, department head, director or dean

Student Employee Eligibility:
  • Must be employed by the University of Minnesota Duluth
  • Must be employed through College Work Study or Miscellaneous Student Employment
  • Must be either a graduate or undergraduate student. Resident Advisors, Graduate Assistants, or Teaching Assistants are not eligible
  • Must have worked for a period of 3 months full-time or 6 months part-time between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009
  • Must be performing student employee jobs
Step-by-Step Instruction in Nominating your Student Employee:

Step 1: Review the above Guidelines in Nominating Your Student for the "Student Employee of the Year" competition to determine the eligibility of your student employee.

Step 2: Fill out the Nomination Form. Please take note that Nominations of the three winners will be posted online. Submitting a Nomination Form gives UMD Human Resources permission to publish your nomination online if your candidate is selected as a winner.

Step 3: Submit the Nomination Form by February 13, 2009 to UMD Department of Human Resources.

Selection Criteria (Students will be evaluated on the following criterias):

1. Reliability
2. Quality of Work
3. Initiative
4. Professionalism
5. Uniqueness of Contribution (In case of a tie, uniqueness of contribution is the deciding factor.)

Number of Awards:

1. UMD Student Employee of the Year
2. First Runner Up
3. Second Runner Up
