UMD Employee Wellness Program

The UMD Employees Wellness Program sponsored by UMD Department Human Resources offers a range of health promotion and wellness programs and services that promote and support physical and emotional health and well-being of our employees and their dependents.

  • Annual Health Fair held each year in November feature free flu shots to faculty and staff, and a wealth of information from medical/dental plan providers, retirement companies and other wellness, health and safety related vendors.

  • Farmers Market at UMD brings fresh produce to the Duluth campus to promote a healthy workplace and a healthy lifestyle for employees and people from the surrounding neighborhoods.

  • Employee Assistance Program provides free, 24/7 resources including counseling, referrals and information to faculty and staff members (or their immediate family) seeking guidance about personal or professional concerns.

  • Medication Therapy Management Clinic seeks to reduce medication therapy problems by providing an individualized patient care plan. The more medications one takes, the higher the chances of having medication therapy problems. MTM can help reduce that risk.

  • Online Resources offer helpful health and wellness tips.

  • QuickCare is a walk-in clinic for UMD employees, spouses/same-sex domestic partners, and dependent children. An experienced nurse practitioner provides basic services such as treating ear pain and strep, to immunizations. Free blood pressure check for employees. Free cholestec for UPlan members.

  • TSCP (Tobacco/Smoking Cessation Program) - If you’re looking to quit, the UMD Tobacco/Smoking Cessation program is here to help. Our team of health professionals will assist you in creating a customized plan to become tobacco free. We will support you along the way with guidance from a qualified health educator, prescriptions for tobacco cessation medications, and medication counseling from a qualified pharmacist.The counseling program is free for UMD faculty, staff, and their families. UPlan members who successfully complete a 6-month program will receive a $65 reward.

  • Tobacco/Smoking Cessation Resources can help you to finally kick smoking.

  • UPlan Health Coach can help motivate and encourage eligible UPlan members to better health. Your Health Coach provides unbiased up-to-date health information to assist you with the development of a personalized wellness plan to effectively change behavior.

  • Wellness workshops explore nutrition, lifestyle, exercise and other health-related topics.
