UMD Employee Wellness Program

UMD Employee Wellness Program offers a variety of wellness initiatives free to faculty and staff. Spouses and same-sex domestic partners may also participate for free in some of the programs. Contact mycoach@d.umn.edu or 726-6753 for questions.

FALL INTO FITNESS: The UMD Employee Wellness Program and Recreational Sports Outdoor Program (RSOP) are finding new ways to help
UMD employees stay active in their everyday lives. This fall, we are offering many new activities for you to participate in.

What: Group Fitness Classes offered through UMD Employee Wellness Program

Who: UMD Faculty and staff

Cost: FREE! No Passes required

An eight-week program that will provide weekly group fitness classes free to faculty and staff which will serve as an introduction to group fitness classes that are currently being offered at Recreational Sports Outdoor Program. There is no cost to participate in this 8-week program and Rec Sports Pass is not required.

Every week a different group fitness class will be offered so that participants will get a taste of each. Each class will cover the basic format and moves so employees can get a feel for the class and learn modifications. If you would like to continue your fitness exercise program, view RSOP's fitness schedule and cost. The group fitness program at RSOP is for both the UMD and surrounding community. There is most likely a class or two that fits your fitness level and interests. All of their instructors are nationally certified and highly motivated.

October 8 & 10: Intro to Yoga
A mind body class that will improve strength, stamina, balance, and flexibility.

October 15 & 17: Intro to Kickboxing
A cardio kick challenge that will get your heart pumping!

October 22 & 24: Intro to Pump & Tone
Weight train to music! This class will tone your whole body.

October 29 & 31: Intro to Pilates
This class will strengthen your core, help you gain stability, and increase your flexibility!

November 5 & 7: Intro to Butts & Gutts
Tone and burn those glutes and abs!

November 12 & 14: Intro to Zumba
A fun way to fuse dance rythyms and cardio.

Novemer 26 & 28: Intro to Cardio Blast
This class will get your heart rate up while you burn a ton of calories!

December 3 & 5: Intro to Spin (CANCELLED)
No-impact, highly effective way to improve cardiovascular strength and burn calories!

Trainers: Melissa Jackson and Sarah Dzik are certified group fitness instructors with Recreational Sports Outdoor Program and are currently student interns with UMD Employee Wellness Program.

What: Fall Into Fitness 5K (Walk, Jog, Run) Club

Who: UMD Faculty and Staff
When: Thursdays from 12:05-12:45pm starting on September 20
Where: Meet in the lobby of the Sports & Health Center in front of the Athletic Ticket Office

Cost: FREE!

Have you ever wanted to do a 5k, but aren’t sure how to train? Join us for a walk, jog or run outside in the beautiful fall air. All fitness levels are welcome to participate in this 5-week training program designed to help increase your fitness and work your way to a 5k (3.1 miles).

Signing up for the Homecoming 5k is encouraged, but not required.

What: Homecoming 5k Trail Run

When: Saturday, October 20
Time: 10:00 am
Cost: $12 UMD Students/$15 Others

Everyone is welcome to join us for this annual 5K Trail run through Bagley Nature Area and the UMD Campus.

Event is sponsored by Recreational Sports Outdoor Program. Register by: October 12 for guaranteed t-shirt. Race day registration is welcome at the Bagley Classroom in Bagley Nature Area.
