UMD Employee Wellness Program
Group Health Coaching Program

Let's lose together: a personalized approach to weight loss and wellness in a supportive group environment.

Discover

The program utilizes an approach that will help members identify eating, exercise, and coping patterns that may be getting in the way of their health goals. After a brief online assessment, members will be given a personalized profile and access to an online toolkit that can be utilized in addition to weekly meetings.

Discuss

This program offers support, accountability, motivation and resources to help you reach your wellness goals in a small group environment. Additionally, it aims to build community and a fresh approach to health coaching through shared, yet self-selected behavior change goals related to healthy lifestyles.

Drop

The 10-week program targets specific health behaviors for weight loss. It focuses on using self-monitoring, problem solving, and individualized goal setting to promote an overall lifestyle change.

Meeting Format

The program involves weekly 30-minute meetings, weigh-ins, and goal setting.

  • Review the previous week’s progress
  • Discuss eating, exercise, and coping habits with a focus on strategies to modify behaviors and overcome barriers.
  • Plan goals for upcoming week

Although weekly weigh-ins are optional, they are highly encouraged. Weigh-ins will be available 15 minutes before and after each meeting. Alternate weigh-in times can be arranged by emailing mycoach@d.umn.edu

What does it cost?

FREE! This is a free program provided to UMD Faculty and Staff (you do not need to be a UPlan member to participate)!

If you are a UPlan member, you can earn 200 points for attending 8 out of 10 meetings.

How do I register?

Fall 2014 Group Health Coaching Registration

Registration deadline is Wednesday October 1st, 2014

Following registration you will be prompted to complete the Lifestyle Patterns Assessment. We will be using this assessment during the first week of meetings and referencing it every week there after, so it is highly encouraged you complete it by Wednesday 10/1/14. The assessment has 50 questions and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Answers are completely confidential.
