“This MBSR course has inspired, calmed,
and challenged me. Most important,
it's helped improve my health.”

The University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Duluth Department of Human Resources/Employee Wellness Program, is pleased to offer a telephone-based version of the highly successful Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (tMBSR) at UMD.
The tMBSR incorporates all the exercises and homework of the Center's community MBSR, which is based on the program developed by practitioner and author Jon Kabat-Zinn. The rationale for adapting the MBSR arises from the recognized need to make the program available to persons who cannot commit to a 2 and 1/2 hour block of time on a weekly basis, those who want to participate but live a distance from one of the Center's normal locations, or for business clients who want to bring the program to non-local staff. The tMBSR begins with an all-day workshop, providing you with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the instructor and other participants. We hope you will form connections with your fellow participants. The next six sessions are conducted via conference call. The tMBSR concludes with an all-day, mostly silent retreat.
Participants will learn how to intentionally cope with pain, illness, and the stress of modern life. Participants will learn mindfulness meditation skills, and build upon their own personal strengths to offset the adverse effects of stress by responding more effectively to challenges such as:
- Chronic Pain
- Headaches
- Heart Disease
- Job and School Stress
- Diabetes
- Depression
- Cancer
- Fibromyalgia
- Family
- HIV/AIDS
- Blood Pressure
- Asthma
- Chrohn's Disease
- Fear/Anxiety
- Sleep Disorders
The program includes: *Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices *Web-based group discussions *Gentle stretching & yoga *Daily "homework" to improve skills *Individual, tailored instruction & support *Hand-outs, CDs & Yoga DVD *All-day workshop and all-day retreat
There is no session scheduled at this time.
UPlan Members: The tMBSR program reimbursement is available to employees who are covered by the UPlan Medical Program. You must participate in both the all-day events and 4 of the 6 conference calls to qualify to be reimbursed $200.00 of the registration fees.
