The UMD Tobacco/Smoking Cessation Program (TSCP), is a 10-session program designed to help those who are looking for an effective plan to stop using tobacco products.

UMD TSCP is based on a three pronged approach with Employee Health & Wellness Center:

  • One-on-one coaching by the UMD Health Coach.
  • Recommendations on approved medications by a Medication Therapy Management Pharmacist.
  • Medical advisement by the QuickCare Clinic Nurse Practitioner.

The program will:

  • identify individual barriers and challenges to quitting
  • use effective tools and teach techniques to make quitting easier
  • create personalized strategies for becoming and staying tobacco free.

Weekly individual coaching sessions will include discussions that will build support, confidence, motivation, and the commitment to achieve a new healthy lifestyle.

This program is available to University of Minnesota Duluth faculty, staff, and their families starting September 16, 2008. The program is FREE and includes weekly sessions before and after setting a quit date as well as ongoing support for maintenance and relapse prevention.

As an option to UPlan members (employees and dependent spouse who are UPlan members), continuing the program for six months, will enable them to receive a 150 Wellness Points.
