Mission Statement

Our mission is to affirmatively promote a diverse, multicultural environment on the University of Minnesota, Duluth campus and to enforce equal opportunity, affirmative action, and sexual harassment policies and procedures for the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

To fulfill this mission we will:

Recommend and administer policy guidelines and procedures for equal opportunity, affirmative action, and sexual harassment set by Regents' policies and state and federal laws and regulations for faculty, staff and students.

Monitor all academic and non-academic searches for their adherence to university and campus policies concerning equal opportunity for employment.

Monitor compliance with Title IX and Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.

Maintain appropriate contacts with supervisors and employees in order to identify and resolve equal opportunity/affirmative action-related personnel problems.

Investigate charges of discrimination, including sexual harassment, on the University of Minnesota, Duluth campus, which may include the assistance of other parties, as appropriate.

Inform/train/advise University of Minnesota, Duluth departments and students of their equal opportunity and affirmative action responsibilities and assist them in efforts to increase the ethnic and racial diversity of the campus community.

Assist in the development of affirmative action programs aimed at improving the balance of protected class employees in University employment.

Provide the campus community with assistance, guidance and training in the formulation of effective and efficient academic and non-academic search strategies.

Actively promote diversity activities, programming efforts, and publications related to all aspects of the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
