DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 5 WORDS. NO MORE. NO LESS. AND YOU CAN’T USE HARD-WORKING.

Hard working...  Oh...

I know that its a little corny and that I'm short by 2, but as a "Navy guy" (Naval Reservist), I try to live up the Navy's core values:  Honor, Courage and Commitment.

(EDITOR’S NOTE: Scott didn’t understand the assignment. But we like his core values so we’ll give him a pass.)

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

My senior year I was one of the two student coordinators for "Move in Weekend."  As a part of the weekend our Orientation Group Leaders put on a variety show for the new freshmen.  I busted out my accordion and got 600 freshmen to rock out to the "Chicken Dance."

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

My favorite college memory was cheering for the Bulldogs at the 2004 Frozen Four. My friends and I took a 24-hour fan bus to get to Boston, but we made a lot of memories along the way.

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

My sophomore year of college, my roommate bought me a Koi fish (because my last name is Coy and she thought it was funny)-- it was 3 inches long and lived in a fish bowl. We never anticipated the fish to stick around very long but it has now been 3 years and my fish is now 11 inches long and living in a 20 gallon aquarium. To this day when she comes to visit, we still laugh about the day she brought home the fish and how it will probably still be around for many years to come!

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

My favorite college memory was graduation day. I finally saw that the late nights, early mornings, endless stressful days and hard work had truly paid off. Walking across the stage at graduation and receiving that diploma made every struggle worth it. It was truly the light at the end of the tunnel and man did it shine bright.

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

Graduating, of course! But, some of my favorite memories revolve around courses taught by two key professors. They both took a genuine interest in getting to know their students, and they were knowledgeable about their subject without being too academic (which can be hard to do). Most importantly, they reinforced my love of literature and writing by making every task both interesting and enjoyable.

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

Studying abroad in Tokyo, Japan during undergraduate and spending three weeks in Port Elizabeth, South Africa during graduate school are both experiences I will never forget. Both were opportunities I’d never have outside of college. I met so many influential people, developed an appreciation of different cultures, and created friendships that will last a lifetime.

FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?

It is hard to pick just one! Looking back on the winter of my Freshman year there are a couple that always stand out together: Receiving my bid to PSS (I am a member of Phi Sigma Sigma, a National Social Sorority at UMD), and the Bulldogs winning the National Championship in Football and Hockey. Could you ask for a better freshman year?
