The following scholarship programs honor entering first-year students for past accomplishments and recognize the gifts and potential they bring to the UMD community.

|Best of Class Scholarship||Minnesota residents who rank either #1 or #2 in their high school class.||50 percent of resident tuition per yr/4yrs.||Completed application for admission||December 15|
|Presidential Scholarship||Students who demonstrate high academic achievement.||Up to $5,000 per yr/ 4yrs.||Completed application for admission||December 15|
|Chancellor's Scholarship||Students who demonstrate high academic achievement.||Up to $3,000 per yr/ 4 yrs.||Completed application for admission||December 15|
|UMD Scholarship||Students who demonstrate high academic achievement with preference given to raise.me participants. See raise.me/join/umd for details||Up to $1,000 per yr/2 yrs.||Completed application for admission||December 15|
|President's Distinguished Student Scholarship||Awarded to diverse students based on academic achievement.||Up to $1,000 per yr/2 yrs.||Completed application for admission||December 15|
|UMD Alumni Scholarship||Awarded to non-resident, non-reciprocity students who have a parent or a grandparent who graduated from UMD.||Recipients will pay current Minnesota resident tuition, renewable subject to good academic standing.||Completed application for admission||Varies|
|First Scholarship||UMD is offering a minimum of two non-renewable scholarships of $2,000 each for the 2015-2016 academic year to high school seniors who have participated on a FIRST team during their school career.||Two non-renewable scholarships of $2,000 each for the 2015-2016 academic year||Complete the FIRST Scholarship Application||March 13|
|Swenson Family Foundation Scholarship||The University will consider students who are eligible for Minnesota resident tuition, plan to pursue a degree in chemistry or biochemistry and who demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, and aptitude.||$14,000 per yr/4 yrs. Selected students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.||Swenson Family Foundation Scholarship Application; available from the UMD Office of Admissions.||March 15|
Renewal of scholarships is contingent upon maintenance of a 3.0 University of Minnesota GPA and successful completion of 30 credits annually.
