UMD Campus Directory

1) Departments and Programs

NOTE: the UMD directory uses the x.500 login and password of the individual making the changes.

Deadline 4:30 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2009. (Ten month appointment people or anyone else that needs an extension should contact Cheryl Reitan, see below)

The information you enter will be used to update both the UMD campus directory published book and the UMD on-line directory.

Follow the instructions below and if you have any questions or problems, contact Cheryl Reitan at 726-8996, creitan@d.umn.edu or Andy Manteuffel at 726-6927, amanteuf@d.umn.edu. Please don't call the Help Desk.

Step 1. At the UMD Main Web Page click on the "Department" link in the upper right.

Step 2. Click "Update a Directory Listing"

Step 3. You will be asked to authenticate by typing in your user name log-in and password. If your log-in and password don't allow you access, contact Andy or Cheryl.
Step 4. View the entire listing. If all of the information is current, check the "Everything's OK" button at the top of the page.
Step 5. If changes need to be made, click on the "Edit Information" link at the top of the page.
Step 6. You will be shown an edit mode page for each part of your listing. Click the corresponsing edit button, make corrections, and then check "Save Changes" for each section that is edited.
Step 7. You are done!

Note: In some cases multiple people are authorized to update a listing.

2) Personal Listings

Check your personal listing at: http://www.d.umn.edu/people/

This information is the data that will appear in the UMD Campus Directory. If something needs to be changed, added or deleted, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to the UMD Home Page: http://www.d.umn.edu/faculty/
Step 2: Select "Faculty and Staff" from the left column: http://www.d.umn.edu/faculty/
Step 3: Select "Updating Your Information" from the bottom of the page
Step 4: Enter your ID number (X.500 username) and password on the pop-up page
Step 5: Use the pulldown menu to choose General information, Personal addresses, Office addresses, Telephone numbers, Emergency Contacts and Directory Suppression.
Review all the areas and make necessary changes.
Note: Individuals are not permitted to change every piece of information. Office addresses and office phones need a HRIF form (see Department Secretaries) in order to be changed. The form is turned into the VCAA (academic) or HR (civil service) office. For more help, contact information below.

NOTE: the Twin Cities directory uses a password unique to their system. For the password, contact Cheryl Reitan 218-726-8996 or Andy Manteuffel at 726-6927, amanteuf@d.umn.edu.

You must approve the listing, even if no changes are made.

Step 1: Go to http://www.edds.umn.edu/
Step 2: Select "Duluth"
Step 3: Select "Current Listings"
Step 4: Select your area by alphabetical listing
Step 5a: If everything is fine, enter your name and phone number for "proposal contact" and the special UMD password.
Step 6a: If you need to make changes, check "update listing" on the right
Step 6b: Make your changes. Then fill in your name and phone number and the special UMD password.

Click submit and you are done.

When you submit an update, the update button goes away. Meanwhile, your listing goes into an editing queue, where it is reviewed. As soon as it is approved, your updated listing and the update button will reappear -- usually within 24 hours.

Note: Not every listing in the UMD Campus Directory is included in the All-Campus directory. If you would like to request that your department or program will be included, prepare the listing (following the format in the printed All-Campus directory), and send it to Cheryl Reitan. UMD will request that it be included.
