Conductor Dario
Sotelo works with UMD Wind Ensemble at UMD and in Brazil

Dario Sotelo
The UMD Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Percussion Ensemble
are taking their talents abroad in the Spring of 2005. The conductor
of the Brazilian National Wind Orchestra, Dario Sotelo, has invited
director Mark Whitlock and the UMD Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Percussion
Ensemble to perform and study at the Conservatory of Music in Tatui,
Brazil.
Sotelo will also come to UMD to present clinics and to
conduct the Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concert at 7:30 p.m. on February
27, 2005 in the Weber Music Hall. This opportunity will be rewarding
for students as it will allow them to share their talent, as well as
experience the music and culture of Brazil. The public is invited to
hear Maestro Dario Sotelo as he conducts Band Dancings!, original wind
ensemble works based on traditional South American dances.
The cost is $10 per person and the proceeds from the event
help support the UMD Bands tour expenses for trip to Brazil. Mark Whitlock
and Daniel W. Eaton will direct the concert. For information contact
