Advanced Engineering Degree Offered

UMD has a new graduate engineering program: the Iron Range/UMD Graduate Education Program. It offers an advanced engineering degree to residents of Minnesota's Iron Range. These upper division/graduate engineering courses are designed to meet the needs of unemployed professionals. The offering are aimed at people interested in an engineering career as well as engineers who need to maintain their licenses, upgrade their engineering skills, or broaden their areas of employability. The courses will enhance professional development and career needs of engineers working in both the public and private sectors.

Classes in the Master of Science in Engineering Management and a Master of Environment Health and Safety Degree are being held on the Iron Range at the Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Virginia. Program organizers will offer 6-8 courses every academic year. Iron Range students will also have access to additional related courses offered on the UMD campus and to ITV and on-line courses.

The program is being coordinated through the UMD Swenson College of Science and Engineering in conjunction with the Arrowhead University Consortium, with financial support provided by the Iron Range Higher Education Committee.
