Bulldog Chic: Seventeen magazine inspires UMD Wear

Seventeen magazine is bullish on vintage clothing or maybe bulldoggish is a better term. In their September issue, Seventeen featured a vintage UMD hockey t-shirt in a fashion layout. When she saw it, Ann Pellant, UMD Stores clothing buyer, got to thinking. Why not offer a vintage style t-shirt in UMD Stores?

Pellant worked with their clothing vendor, Jansport, to produce a vintage looking UMD t-shirt similar to the one shown in Seventeen. The shirt features the skating bulldog logo that dates back to the 1980s. It’s available in classic maroon, but Pellant adds, “If they turn out to be popular, we may order more colors.”

Perhaps the best thing about these shirts is that they are available now and in a variety of sizes. “People don’t have to search second-hand stores or surf clothing websites hoping to find a vintage t-shirt that will fit them,” Pellant said. A recent search of ebay alone revealed over 22,000 vintage t-shirts up for auction.
