Athletic Training B.A.Sc. Program Outcomes

 

Program Mission

The mission of the Athletic Training Education Program at the University of Minnesota Duluth is to provide dedicated, effective undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and service to our students preparing to be health care providers for life and sport to benefit the people of the state of Minnesota, the nation, and the world. Students in the Athletic Training Education Program are offered a curriculum of didactic, laboratory, and clinical experiences which emphasize a “hands on” learning approach. The Athletic Training Education Program is committed to providing students with educational, clinical, and professional growth opportunities that will help prepare them for The Board of Certification (BOC) examination, and entry into the Athletic Training profession. 

Program Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of prevention and health promotion
  2. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of clinical examination and diagnosis
  3. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of acute care of injury and illness
  4. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of therapeutic interventions
  5. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of psychosocial strategies and referral
  6. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of health care administration
  7. Demonstrate competence in the athletic training educational domain of professional development and responsibility
  8. Demonstrate respect for and treat the patient as an individual, without regard to race, color, sexual preference, socioeconomic status, political or religious affiliation, or physical ability.
  9. Understand the profession of Athletic Training, the athletic trainer's role in the health care arena, and the professional and ethical responsibilities associated with the athletic trainer as a health care professional.
