Char Aaseng met with CASL to get perspectives and ideas for "branding" and communicating student learning outcomes.
Jackie reviewed the work she, Shannon and Mary had been doing to develop a process for review of annual reports. The overall goal is that CASL synthesizes results of annual assessments and sends a report to Administration. Question: to what extent do individual CASL members participate in the review and synthesis.
Jackie, Mary and Shannon will review each outcome report and then combine by program and/or department to score using a rubric. Would also make comments/suggestions for improvements to the assessment plan.
Should at least one other member of CASL do the same for each report?
What would be the timeline?
Should all CASL members study each review?
Should the associate dean and faculty representative study the reviews from the respective college?
We believe a face-to-face meeting with the program liaison and/or department head and/or associate dean needs to happen to give feedback. Timing is a concern. The meetings should be done before the programs collect more data for this year.
CASL members were asked to think about these questions and be prepared with input to the plan at the next meeting. The other agenda item will be to identify a pilot category for development of liberal education assessment plans.
